I want to ask your help with a "crowdfunding campaign" that is being launched by the C.A. Tripp Literary Trust. This type of campaign is one in which lots of people work together in small ways to achieve a big goal in a short amount of time. What I'm asking you to do to help lead this campaign by spreading the word to everyone you know who might want to help give donations of $10, $25, $50, or more-all for a good cause, with rewards to those who donate!
The campaign is to raise money for the digitizing of all of Dr. C.A. Tripp's original research papers and correspondences. Dr. Tripp was a world renowned clinical psychologist and sexologist whose groundbreaking 1975 work, The Homosexual Matrix, debunked many of the myths surrounding sexuality, selling over 400,000 copies in 14 languages. His final book, published posthumously, was titled The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln, and speculated about our great president's sexuality. The papers and materials being digitized in this project have already been accepted for donation to the New York Public Library and the Kinsey Institute; however, first we have to digitize them!
Our project is important in many ways. Dr. Tripp, the friend and protege of Dr. Alfred Kinsey, brought important issues to the limelight and raised critical questions about ourselves and society. His stoic demeanor and quiet intellectualism helped him to create a small body of scholarly work that, though nearly undetectable in our flashy culture, ultimately helped to define it. He was even invited to speak on Oprah Winfrey's and Phil Donahue's talk shows!
Dr. Tripp's work speaks volumes to the causes of equality and understanding. Your donations will not only help preserve a man's writing, but help his voice reach millions of people who may never have had the chance to listen.
Helping raise money for this project is not simply an academic endeavor-it is the preservation of one man's voice and vision to better understand the world we live in-why we do the things we do, why we feel the way we feel, and how it affects ourselves and our relationships.
The campaign has just begun. To build up activity and get the ball rolling, we ask for your help in three ways:
1. SPREAD THE WORD to everyone you know who might like to support this project; forward this email to your friends and colleagues; write something about this project on your website or social media; make some phone calls!
2. COMMENT about this project on our campaign website and let us know about any thoughts, comments, questions, or suggestions you might have!
3. CONTRIBUTE even a small amount of $10 or $25. By simply being one of the first to donate, you will encourage others to give. To donate, go to the website listed below and click on "Contribute Now."
The campaign will be underway shortly and will be an Indiegogo project. Please check back for updates! Thank you.
